Member Spotlight - Scott P.



How long have you been a member of Fountain City (/BKS)? 5 years


What's your 30 second elevator pitch about yourself? (What do you do, tell us about your family/hobbies) I work with companies to help them create benefit programs to help their employees retire. I have a teenage daughter and when I'm not getting fit at FCF, I like to play ice hockey.


What initially brought you into FCF? I was a few months from turning 50 and felt lazy and unmotivated


Tell us about you fitness/health background? (Did you play sports growing up? Try other gyms/work out at home?) I played football and baseball in high school. I stayed active in my 30s and 40s, but less so as I aged.


What are some changes you've noticed in yourself during your time here at FCF? (Physically, mentally, capabilities, daily life, etc.) I've lost 25 or so pounds, cut out sodas and eat much better.


What kinds of things can you do now, that you were not able to do when you first started CrossFit? (inside or outside of the gym) Well, I can wear size 36 jeans. ;) My mobility is the biggest change. When I started, I couldn't do a pull-up or toes-to-bar and double unders were out of the question.


What motivates you to keep coming back for more week after week? The people and it's just part of my life now.



In your opinion, what is the most valuable aspect of Fountain City Fitness? Constantly varied workouts. It never feels repetitive.


What do you hope to accomplish in the future here at FCF? I'd like to lose 10 or so more pounds and just continue to stay active and healthy.


What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone that is considering joining a CrossFit gym? Stick with it and just have fun. While it never gets "easier", you will notice improvements in your mobility and how much you can do in each workout.
